SENSE OF DISCRETION ( વિવેકશક્તિ ) ----- ( 1 )

Man may be intelligent and skillful but may not be wise. Discretion is a principle characteristic of true knowledge. True knowledge is not possible without the sense of discretion. Some people are very emotional and have very little sense of discretion. The result can be very damaging. When life is managed by unbalanced or exclusive use of emotions or intelligence, it (life) is incomplete due to lack of discretion. When certain thought, natural tendency, emotion, bhava or propriety of certain behavior springs up in the mind and creates the disturbances, sense of discretion comes to the rescue. It (sense of discretion) thinks of all sides of the problem and evaluates elements for and against in solving the problem. In the end it declares its decision with equanimity as if it is somebody else and is not connected or concerned with the puzzling problem. When a person makes the decision with equanimity he stops or returns from the way forbidden by God. Without the sense of discretion there is no purpose, aim or reason for the life. It is because of this energy of discretion that we have bhavna, good qualities and happiness. There is a lot more possibility to fall and stumble in life if there is a lack of this energy of discretion.
