DIVINE LOVE (3)

Swajan: Mota, it seems that, what we consider true love is mixed up with many impurities. Is not it?

Pujya Shree Mota: There are many impure elements mixed up in what we call love, that seems very intense at times. Love is not true love if we have physical attraction and desires towards loved ones. It can also get mixed up if we have a deep rooted subtle desire to control the loved ones. The workings of the mind is so deep and mysterious that human has no concept regarding it. Only the person who has developed the habit of introspection with awareness and equanimity, can see that. Even the intense love of the mother towards her child, is mixed up with the deep and hidden feeling that child is her creation and her own blood. To that extent it is not pure and is lessened. For this reasons, most mothers cannot develop broader love towards the world from the love of her child. How can we say that there is no love of higher calibre in the people who are ready to give up their lives for their ideal and nation? Even here, there is a tendency of measuring others with subtle ego and materialistic viewpoint. For this reason, they also have the element of attachment and hate to a higher degree. True and pure love is the true nature of the Atman.

DIVINE LOVE (2)

Swajan: Mota, what kind of changes are experienced in our nature, while we pursue to sublimate our love?

Pujya Shree Mota; Open mindedness and generosity (માનસિક ઉદારતા) is the first step. It is just the beginning of the love when we bear with people of different nature, that come in our contact in different situations. Open mindedness and generosity means to bear misunderstanding, sarcasm, unjust behavior, oppositional attitude, being ignored, false accusations and biting words without any complaints. There is some inherent misery even in open mindedness and generosity. True love does not have, even that inherent misery. True love accepts physical and mental difficulties peacefully without giving any reaction. True love never toots its own horns.

Moreover, true love keeps quite regarding its own inclusiveness and self sacrifice. Love and ego can never coexist. The relationship between love and Moha (infatuation, fascination) is like light and darkness. Degree of infatuation corresponds to the lack of love. Moha is blind; love on the other hand has manyfold vision, being the characteristic of the formidable God. True love always keeps the welfare of the loved one in the forefront and it can become apparently tough if needed. It is just not the soft and tender feelings. It always considers one thing.  How can it benefit the loved ones?

DIVINE LOVE (1)

Swajan: Mota, the element of love that is present in all beings as the desires for worldly pleasures. When that  can be considered transformed (sublimated) as divine love?

Pujya Shree Mota: It is a well accepted fact that human being carries the residue of the animal kingdom and seeds of the divinity. Ultimately the humans, animals and everything else will be merged with divine consciousness. If human being wants to expedite the speed of the evolution, so that he can avoid misery, worry and sorrow arising out of the karmas; he must sublimate this great element of the God (love). I would go the extent, that if one wants to serve humanity, one would need to sublimate this formidable element love.

How can we say that love is sublimated? It is sublimated when all aspects of the love (dual and non dual) are expressed fully and in totality. Without the presence of two, there is no existence of this universe or love. Even the most sinful person loves his body and mind so much that he commits real bad karmas to please them. So knowingly or unknowingly he considers body, mind and nature (expression of Prakruti) separate from 'I'. Love can be present when there is lover and the person to be loved. There is a natural higher progress in love as it is a divine element. So there is a slow or fast progress in duality (with awareness or as per nature) towards the ideal of non duality, absorption and mixing together. All these are present in love in the concealed or manifested form. Thus love is a chain that connects and also a tool for realization. In fact true  love is such a chain, that it is the form of realization.

NAAM-SMARAN AND ITS EFFECT

Question: Mota, why does the effect of the Naam-Smaran is not manifested in life even if it is done for a long time?

Pujya Shree Mota; The tools like Japa will be effective only if we get to reduce love (attachment) and hate from our lives. If our nature is still sentient, Naam-Smaran  cannot be done for a long time and can not be maintained. Then how can it be there all the time? So while practicing any tool, one should work to cleanse the mind (ચિત્તશુધ્ધિ, reducing attachments and hate etc,).

LOVE (ATTACHMENT) AND HATE - રાગદ્વેષ (3)

The main aim of the aspirant is not to get rid of only  love and hate. He tries very hard to develop the strength and energy that is needed to fight off love and hate. He stays engaged in the practice of the tool to develop attraction towards consciousness becoming brighter and  courageous in his inner beings. He does this with knowledge and devotion. He also works to develop Bhavna, prayers and introspection. At this point he is convinced that it is not possible to defeat love and hate without the help of the divine energy. So as he develops this divine energy; whenever there is an inclination towards love-hate in the mind arise, he tries hard to increase the energy by deeply engaging in the tools and uses all his might and energy to defeat love-hate. Thus he does not get entangled in the currents of love-hate and let it pass by. He does not cooperate with it or takes part in it. This he does by keeping the aim of his life in front of him. He is always ready and eager to remove the root causes of love-hate. He has the inner understanding to remove the roots that provide the support to love-hate. He uses this inner understanding greatly for that purpose. Love and hate cannot be removed just by the strength of the intellect. Devotion towards the consciousness with Gnana must be cultivated. Such devotion has tremendous strength and energy. Only at such level of the aspirant, the energy is capable of removing the obstacles like love and hate. It is never possible to remove love and hate completely without the development of devotion and Bhakti in the intellect.
