SADHANA -- METHOD OF STUDY

HARI OM

January 21, 1958.

Samadhi is the final stage of achieving realization of the divine consciousness. Samadhi cannot be achieved without reaching certain state of development. It includes being free from attachments, ego, desires , etc. What we need to do is to try staying in the state of bhava or make a constant effort to achieve that state. State of thoughtlessness is not produced on its own. It requires above mentioned level of development. We need to cling to our determination about the time of meditation even if there is stress, tiredness and feeling of anxiety during meditation. Time and place must be fixed for it. No work can excel by keeping fear. It is very appropriate to let go of the fear. If we can keep the bhava of consciousness while doing naam-smaran with bhava, it is worth keeping it and is appropriate. In the initial stages it is never possible to keep this kind of bhava for the sadhak. It is only possible after long practice with earnestness. Try to merge with that bhava without any kind of thoughts in the mind. It takes a long time even to achieve this stage. Keep trying to achieve this stage of absorption in the bhava. Thoughtlessness persists only for a short time; even that is best. Try to lengthen the period of thoughtlessness.
